SRAC History

The Suwannee River Area Council was originally chartered in 1924, although the Boy Scout program was already well established in the area by that time. Tallahassee formed its first troop in 1912, and the other major communities in North Florida and South Georgia weren't far behind. Prior to the Suwannee River Area Council's formation, these early troops were served either by a smaller local council or directly by the National Council in New York.
